The gory tableau at the Mullins' family home in Mustang, Oklahoma includes a man who appears to have been run over by a truck and another whose head has been squashed under a garage door - complete with fake blood splatter.
The scene has drawn curious passers-by and some concern, with at least one woman calling 911 to report the crushed head; emergency personnel responded and discovered the dummy.
Local resident Rebecca Fuentes said: "So many kids go up and down that block, and if I thought it was real I can only imagine what a child would think."
The display's creators defended the display, saying they had broken no laws. Mrs Mullins added Halloween had always been a favourite holiday for their family and while, they knew the display would raise eyebrows they hadn't expected the level of attention they received.
